Taking one’s chances is like taking a bath, because sometimes you end up feeling comfortable and warm, and sometimes there is something terrible lurking around that you cannot see until it is too late and you can do nothing else but scream and cling to a plastic duck.

Enemies…
So true.. :)““You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life.””—
Legal Ethics class last Tuesday would have been hilarious had we not been absolutely scared at that time. :P
Our schedule for that day was 5:30-8:30 PM Constitutional Law 2 and 8:30-9:30PM Legal Ethics. It was already 7:30 and no Professor has graced our doors yet. &:45, a female Professor barged in and uttered the prayer seconds after entering the door. We were speechless and surprised because we were absolutely puzzled who she is. After saying the prayer, she barked off our names one by one, completing the class attendance check in just a couple of minutes or less.
She then proceeded to recitation. She called on Frances we still have no idea who she is. She uttered the first question…Is the Legal Profession more of a Profession or a privilege? OH! We realized then that she is our Legal Ethics Prof. But at the same time alarm bells sounded on my head—Why is she so EARLY!?? Not to mention she is giving Frances hell as she recites. Her questions were confusing and when she asks about a canon or a rule from the Code, she wants it verbatim. (Frances said “respect for THE law” and she corrected her saying it should be “respect for law” only)
We were all reeling from her questions dreading for our names to be called to recite. None of us have the confidence and the bravery to interrupt her and inform her that she’s early. Also, we didn’t know at that time whether she knew all along and that she intended to have class till 9:30.
At around 8: 15, we were increasingly getting worse on our recitations. She might have noticed and stated that our class is at 6:30 and yet we were still not ready for her class. That’s the only time one of us had the guts to inform her that we are, in fact, her 8:30 class.
She outrageously disbelieved us. She maintained that she asked a girl in the hallway whether this is her class and that she followed the same girl inside our room. She looked every one of us girls in the eye trying to discern who it was she talked to. Haha! Luckily the girl was not from our class, or else she would have had hell to pay. Our professor was utterly surprised and she just reasoned that even if our class is at 8:30, we still wouldn’t have been ready. She still insisted even up to the moment she decided to end class that the girl was from our class and that she just followed her. Tsktsk.. Unlucky us.
The incident was very funny when we realized that she had been mistaken. However, due to her manner of questioning during recitation and due in part to our utter fear of being called next, nobody laughed. I don’t think anybody even smiled. Truth be told, I was busy praying “not me, LOrd. Please not me”
Oh well, did I say it was our first day of classes? Haha. What a memorable first day that was!
My last park shoot was at La Mesa Eco Park, I think. Last Sunday, Dalandhan and I went to a Luneta-Intramuros Lomowalk. The sun was scorching hot and the clouds provide scarce shade, however, this is the environment that my cameras thrive in.
I used my Fisheye 2, my Vivitar UWS and Dhan’s XA2 partnered with Agfa Vista film, Ektachrome 100, Sensia 200 and Eurocolor 200. It was a great shoot and we parted ways with our skins a tad darker and our spirits a great deal lighter.
Lomo shots to follow. :P I’m so excited already! :)
Taking pictures inside the MRT/LRT station is prohibited. I snuck one shot when nobody’s looking and I used the XA2 so that no one will notice it. :P The resulting shot was more than I expected. I knew that the light streaming in would be a great shot but I didn’t realize it would make such a dramatic shot. :)
On another note, it’s the 2nd day of vacation and I’ve got squat. For four straight months of endless worrying and studying, I’m faced with a day when I don’t have any memorizing or reading to do and my mind comes up with nothing to fill the time. I’ve started building my Infinite Justice Gundam, my bf’s bday gift. :P I’ve started watching old TV series and old movies. I made a plan with one of my friends to go out this weekend and shoot. Nonetheless, I still feel like something is missing.. I’m not enjoying it as much as I thought I would when it was still not sembreak. I’m pathetic, I know. haha.
I’m going to a friend’s house tomorrow to borrow some review materials. I think what’s nagging at the back of my mind is that next week’s going to be crunch time and I’m not ready to study yet and my mind is telling me to read in advance but my body doesn’t want to because everyone knows, I deserve this break.
But then again, maybe I just need a bit of sunshine and some fresh mountain air..
Semestral Break and My Cabinet Ritual
At last, sembreak!
Tonight is the only time I can really call a vacation since I studied law school. It’s refreshing to not think about anything for a while; no classes, recitations, quizzes nor case digests to worry about..Till tomorrow, that is.
Tomorrow’s the official first day of classes..and I’m scared. Tomorrow is slotted for Criminal Law 2 class at 5:30-7:30. Hay… They said the professor is great and that he favors female students. The only downside is that he often assigns many cases to digest. It would have been okay had we not known that the other teachers who will be handling the other subjects are Sempio-diy and Castillo for Consti2 and Oblicon, respectively. Rumours have it that both of them assign a large number of cases to digest through-out the sem. I don’t think they meant 30 or 40 cases for the whole sem, rather, hundreds. Aarrghh..
To start the semester right, I decided to clean up my cabinet to get rid of all the papers and whatnots that are the remnants of the past semester. Every semestral break, even when I was in college, I indulge in this ritual cabinet cleansing. I took all the important papers, filed them into folders, labeled them and stuck them at the bottom of my cabinet. I collected all loose paper clips, placed them on their respective boxes, the little plastic colorful ones are on one transparent box while the big metal gold-colored ones go on the box of the paper clamps. I stacked the unused index cards and arranged them by color. The plastic fasteners go in the bottle together with the highlighters. Lastly, I placed last year’s books, except the codals, at the bottom of my cabinet to make room for the new books (which I haven’t bought yet).
After all that de-cluttering, next came the search for the proverbial notebook and pen. Even when I was in college, I used to debate whether I’ll be using a pen for that year or a pencil that semester. However, since I’m using my boyfriend’s Parker pen nowadays, I have forgone searching for a pen till a Violet Parker pen becomes available and I have the funds to buy it. :P Also, I’m still debating whether to buy a ball point Parker pen or a fountain pen instead. Nonetheless, I decided to buy a notebook tonight, upon realizing that tomorrow, in fact, is the start of classes.
I wanted a notebook that is compact, small, durable, has a place to insert my index cards, and has a pen holder. Admittedly, the pen holder is the deciding factor. I have seen countless designs on the market now and I would have bought the colorful ones had I been still in college and I was still using my notebook as a journal. :P However, this time, I need a serious notebook that will withstand countless notes-taking and be more durable than the yellow paper I used to take down review notes last sem. I found some which have the characteristics I enumerated above, however, they lack the pen holder. The pen holder is essential for me because I keep on rummaging on my bag for my ballpen and I don’t wanna do that anymore. After 30 minutes of going back and forth on the notebook aisle at Cubao Alimall National Bookstore, I was able to find a notebook that has all the characteristics I wanted and it even has a snap-on lock! The only problem is that it looks very bland and boring. I decided I’ll just stick on some lomo pictures that I’ll be printing on sticker paper. However, surprising as it may be, I’m holding the notebook right now and to tell you the truth, I’m starting to like it’s brown boring cover. Hahaha.
Hmm.. I’m debating with myself whether I’ll be highlighting my books this sem or not. I don’t like defacing the book but highlighting really helps me track the thought of the discussions. So good luck to me. :P
I really want a new set of colored pens.
Have I said I miss taking pictures? This picture was taken at Anawangin Cove on our last visit there. I miss the beach, the sparkling water and the twinkling stars at night.. Here in the metropolis, one has to go lengths just to get a good view of them. The city lights outshine them, nonetheless, the stars will never lose their sparkle.
